Nigerian Folk Art Workshop with Monica Rue
All materials are included in the price of the workshop. Monica Rue is an artist that reveres fibers and fabrics. Her fantastic use of color and pattern are prominent key elements that makes her art undeniably unique. Her teaching skills and knowledge of fibers and textiles will enhance your creativity process; maybe tapping into something waiting to be discovered. In this workshop, Monica will teach you how to create either a Mkeka (woven mat) or a Bakuli (bowl). Students will design their own unique art piece using traditional and non-traditional techniques. You will be using rope, fabric, yarn, beads and other materials to make your one-of-a-kind mat or bowl that you will be able to take home at the end of the workshop.
